Alma - Pretty Pooch
As a young child, I would regularly bake with my grandma but my love for baking definitely started with my love for eating delicious chocolate cake. A family friend made the most amazing chocolate cakes and when I was a teenager, I finally got the recipe and was over the moon when it won 1st place at the Blackshawhead Fate. In truth, it definitely didn't win on presentation but my priority has always been taste!

After school, I didn't go down this path but instead followed my love for animals, eventually leading to my decision to go vegan. After many years in this industry, my passion for creating was strong and I was loving making cakes for friends and family. Having decided to start a family, I decided now was the time to take the plunge and open Alma's.

Alma is our gorgeous rescue pup who we adopted in 2022. If you are local, you may see Alma in the shop when we are closed but unfortunately she is still very unsure of the world and unknown humans so you'll just have to admire her from a distance.

You may also see my husband, Joe, who often helps out in the shop on his days off and loves chatting to customers. Joe has a love for cooking and although baking has not been his thing, he is learning and is a huge help, particularly on busy days!

A coffee lover? Our 100% Arabiaca artisan coffee will go perfectly with your choice of cake. If tea is more your thing, we offer a delicious selection of teas from the True Tea Co. Choose from our choice of milk alternatives to suit your hot drink.
We are also extremely passionate about being as eco-friendly as possible. From recyclable packaging to biodegradable (non)plastic gloves, we are keen to do our bit to reduce and recycle.
